A Public Improvement District (PID) is an area established by a city or county to provide improvements or a higher degree of maintenance to an area.
The property owners within the district pay a fee to fund improvements like road construction, water distribution, wastewater collection, landscaping, city parks, recreational areas, etc. that directly benefit the area.
PID fees are not ad valorem property taxes, and therefore are not subject to property tax exemptions under the Texas Property Tax Code. This fee is collected by the tax office that collects the city or county taxes.
